About Emma P.

Hi everyone, I'm Emma! I am in my fifth year going for my Bachelors of Science with an Honours in Neuroscience and Mental Health and a minor in Psychology. I am very excited to be joining the SSSC as a returning Peer Mentor on the Career Team for the 2024/2025 academic year!

If I could give some advice to a first-year student, it would be to reach out to as many people as possible. Taking the time to get to know your classmates is a great way to develop friendships and study groups. This will make exam time a lot less stressful when you have classmates/friends around studying with you! Additionally, talking to your professors, lab coordinators, and TAs is not only a great way to understand material better and succeed in a course, but it is also a great way to form connections and possible future references. When professors know you well, it will be a lot easier to find a reference when that time inevitably comes. Finally, be sure to reach out and take advantage of all the resources here at Carleton. Things such as study groups, PASS, the SSSC, and more, are wonderful ways to get connected, work on yourself as a student, and open doors to new work/volunteer opportunities in your future academic years!

If you have any questions concerning university life, especially how to stay on top of school, work, and getting involved in certain activities, or if you just want someone to talk to for support, I am here to help! I look forward to working with you through the SSSC and am excited to help you in any way I can to make your university experience as successful as possible.
