About Aisha B.
Hi everyone! I'm Aisha, entering my third year in Neuroscience & Mental Health. Over the next few years, I look forward to further exploring the amazing complexities of our brain and working towards building a safer mental health environment within the community. I'm absolutely thrilled to be returning as an SSSC mentor and look forward to working with all of you on meaningful initiatives!
With two years of undergraduate experience, I’ve come to appreciate the value of both seeking support and reaching out to others. The transition from high school to university can be intimidating, and the first year often feels overwhelming for plenty of reasons. Fortunately, Carleton offers a variety of resources designed to support students and help you feel more connected with the student community.
Getting involved also begins with taking the initiative to reach out. Expressing genuine curiosity is often the first step toward meaningful involvement. Don’t hesitate to explore volunteer or paid opportunities—start early, even in your first term. You’re likely to find something you truly enjoy and care about.
In the past two years, I’ve had the privilege of working as a Consent Educator at the Sexual Assault Support Center on campus and as a peer mentor with the SSSC. These roles have been incredibly enriching, allowing me to contribute to important causes, strengthen my skills, and build meaningful connections within the community. They’ve also provided valuable opportunities for personal growth, boosting my confidence and encouraging me to continuously improve.
Don't hesitate to drop by the SSSC anytime, whether for a quick chat or a fun workshop. SSSC and its mentors are always here to make you feel welcomed and cared for, easing your journey. Excited to meet you all soon, and don’t forget to prioritize self-care for your body and mind :)
