About Jerelle O.
Hi everyone!
I'm Jerelle, a fourth-year Theoretical Physics student with a minor in Statistics. My love for Science and labs has grown even more after my third year at Carleton. Science has always been one of my favourite subjects and getting to learn and see new things continuously excites me!
Some advice to incoming first year students:
You are now at a different level of education, and in life. Doing something new can be challenging. So, have patience with yourself and prioritize your time. Do not fall into the traps of only focusing on one aspect of your life. It will be dicey especially in the first semester but find a balance for school life and rest. Maintaining a schedule will help you to stay on track to a successful future. Moreover, always keep trying! Even if it is hard and you stumble, keep aiming towards your goal. Reach out to the many resources available at Carleton to help with difficulties and navigating the university experience.
At Carleton, I've been involved in the Science Student Success Centre since my first year, and I also participated in Carleton University Physics Society as a representative member on the executive team. As an international student, I also got to participate in activities hosted by the ISSO, such as museum visits, which were very fun! School work and studying can be very time consuming, so it's important to involve yourself in the Carleton community to give yourself the opportunity to meet new people and learn outside of your immediate field. There are many activities, clubs and workshops that provide a space to safely meet people and seek help from those around you.
The Science Student Success Center is here to help guide your university experience, so feel free to reach out for any support!
