I'm Ayaa, one of the Healthcare Team Leads at the SSSC. I am going in my 4th year doing BSc Honours Biology with concentration in Health Science and a minor in Statistics. This is my 2nd year as the Healthcare Team Lead and my 4th volunteering with the SSSC.
To all 1st year students, please do not hesitate to use the resources that you have. There is no shame in wanting to succeed and there is no shame in needing help doing that. It is okay to not know what you want to do with your degree. Take your time and do not compare yourself to anyone, "comparison is the poison that robs you of gratitude" - Brendon Buchard
During my time at Carleton I got involved with PMC as a notetaker, with FYC and CUBS as a mentee in their mentoring programs, and with the SSSC as a First-Year Rep, Peer mentor and a Team Lead for the Healthcare team. At the SSSC I was part of the community team, EDI team and the Healthcare team.
Most, if not all, of my experiences at Carleton have provided me with opportunities to meet new people from various programs and academic levels, as well as alumni, professors, and staff. This has greatly expanded both my knowledge and skills as a student and as an individual.
