A Piece of Advice for Students Starting Their First Year

Adapting to a new schedule and being surrounded by a whole new group of people can be overwhelming at first. The transition into university can seem daunting, but if I could give my past self one piece of advice, it would be to not take it too seriously. It’s easy to deep dive into the academics and overlook all the fun activities taking place around you. Take the time to get involved and meet new people, both inside and outside the classroom. Building a sense of community can make all the difference in having a fulfilling journey through university. Take advantage of all the events and resources available on campus, and don’t hesitate to ask for help when you need it.

Gabrielle's Involvement On-Campus

Since my first year, I got involved as department representative for the Carleton Academic Student Government (CASG), became an active member of the Physics Society, and got to learn more about governance as a student Senator.

Interests Outside of School

I have loved exploring the city and meeting new people! In my free time, I enjoy biking, reading, and visiting museums.
