Hi everyone!
My name is Fatima, and I’m in my 4th year of Computer Science in the Software Engineering stream. This is my fourth year with the SSSC, and I’m excited to be a part of the team again! After being on coop for the past year it’s nice to be back on campus.
Over the past few years, I've had the opportunity to gain a lot of new experiences. In my second year, I joined the SSSC as a mentor, and by my third year, I was one of the team leads for the computer science team where I had the chance to host multiple events. Beyond my involvement in the SSSC, I’ve been a TA for a couple of COMP courses, and had the chance to gain experience in my field through different coop and internship opportunities. All of this has helped me meet new people, network, travel, and build amazing connections!
If there is one advice I would give to first-year students, it would be to take full advantage of the opportunities available to you. Get involved in clubs and don't hesitate to ask for help when you need it. Balancing your academic responsibilities with extracurricular activities will not only enhance your university experience but also help you build a strong network and make friends.
