“If you only do what you can do, you’ll never be better than what you are.” – Master Shifu
First year can feel like being dropped into a Netflix series halfway through. But that’s where the fun begins. This quote reminds me that it’s okay not to have it all figured out. Growth happens when you raise your hand even if your voice shakes, join a club you know nothing about, or survive your first 8:30 am without caffeine. You don’t have to be perfect, you just have to be brave enough to try.
During my time at Carleton, I’ve been actively involved in the campus community. Most recently, I participated in CUSLI as a Team Leader Participant. Getting involved early really does open doors, it puts you in a better position later in your journey.
Over the years, I’ve also been part of First-Year Connections (FYC), CUBS, the SSSC’s Community Team, EDI Team, Healthcare Team, and helped lead 4 Science Lab Tours during Open House events.
These experiences have connected me with brilliant students from a wide range of programs and academic levels, as well as alumni, professors, and staff. Each opportunity has helped me grow, not just academically, but personally, by expanding my knowledge, sharpening my skills, and building a strong, supportive network.
If you ever have questions about academics, research, healthcare, volunteering, the MCAT or getting involved on campus, feel free to reach out. I’d be happy to help or just have a chat!
