Join us on Monday, February 10th for an IUPAC Global Women's Breakfast Event!
Held in conjunction with the International Day of Women and Girls in Science on February 11th, the goal of "The Breakfast" is to establish an active network of people to overcome barriers to gender equality in science.
The event will be hosted by the Science Student Success Centre's (SSSC's) EDI Team and the Office of the Dean of Science in 3431 Herzberg Laboratories on Monday, February 10th from 10:30AM to 12:00PM.
Come join us for a coffee/tea and a pancake breakfast followed by a panel and discussion with some of our amazing women leaders in STEM at Carleton University.

Our lovely panelists speaking at this event are:
- Dr. Maria DeRosa
Dr. Maria DeRosa is the Dean of the Faculty of Science and a Professor of Chemistry at Carleton University. She leads the Laboratory for Aptamer Discovery and Development of Emerging Research and has received numerous awards, including the John Charles Polanyi Research Award and the Ontario Early Researcher Award.
- Dr. Rowan Thomson
Dr. Rowan Thomson is the Associate Dean (Equity, Diversity and Inclusion) in the Faculty of Science at Carleton University and a professor in the Laboratory for Radiotherapy Physics and the Medical Physics Group. She is also a Canada Research Chair in Radiotherapy Physics conducting research to improve cancer radiation treatments.
- Dr. Roslyn Dakin
Dr. Roslyn Dakin is an Associate Professor in the Faculty of Science at Carleton University, specializing in behavioural biology. Her research examines how animals adapt their movement and social systems to environmental challenges.
- Dr. Kim Hellemans
Dr. Kim Hellemans is an Assistant Professor in Neuroscience and the Associate Dean of Science (Student Recruitment, Wellness and Success) at Carleton University. Her research focuses on the factors contributing to mental health and academic challenges among students with a focus on current life stressors, cannabis use, and social media.
