LaTeX (pronounced Lay-Tech) is the standard document processor used for writing reports in physics and mathematics. It is unlike common document processors as it is built specifically for writing scientific papers. It provides easy equation editing and does automatic formatting, citing, numbering, etc, making writing lab reports much faster once the syntax is learned. For example to write something in italics, one would write "\textit{hello world}" and it would compile "hello world".
To get the most out of the tutorial, bring your laptop and we'll use Overleaf to practice.
