About Katie H.
"Hello! My name is Katie and I’m in my first year of the Masters of Science – Neuroscience program. This is my fourth year in the SSSC and I look forward to helping out however I can! As part of the Kick-Start – Medical School Prep Team, I look forward to providing as much guidance as possible, through workshops and through one-on-one mentoring sessions.
I’m very passionate about mental health care and I plan to apply to medical school once I finish my masters. Outside of Carleton, I am a research assistant in the CHEO Emergency Department.
I was born and raised in Halifax, Nova Scotia, and I come from a varied school and work background. I attended the University of King’s College in Halifax for their Foundation Year program (which focuses on Philosophy, English, and History), obtained a Civil Engineering Technology diploma, and worked as a drafter/safety coordinator for 2.5 years.
Aside from school, I enjoy running, reading, eating chocolate, and hanging out with my cats!
If you have any questions about transitioning from Arts to Science, need help with studying or planning your classes, thinking about applying to medical school, or just want to hear a good cat story, I’m your go-to!"
