Volunteer with the SSSC

Monday, April 30, 2012

The SSSC is currently taking applications for additional mentors, workshop facilitators and presenters to join its team for the 2012-2013 academic semester. The application deadline is on February 27 2012. Interviews will be scheduled for qualified candidates after all applications have been received.

Interested students should submit a resume and a cover letter via email to sssc [at] carleton [dot] ca detailing their experience and interests no later than 4pm February 27 2012. Note that applications without a cover letter will not be considered.

The primary role of our SSSC volunteers is to connect students with the resources available on campus that can contribute to their success at university. They organize events, lead study groups, workshops and seminars and inform students of academic opportunities including scholarships, research positions, employment and career opportunities. Potential volunteers are encouraged to determine which positions would best suit their personality, experience and career aspirations before applying to join the team.   Successful candidates will be required to attend all training sessions with SSSC personnel and will be given a chance to shape their experience with the team by engaging in one or more approved initiatives of their own.  Volunteer hours will be recognized through the University’s Co-curricular record.
